Level 4 Certificate in

Sports / Remedial Massage


The Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy qualification provides learners with the knowledge and skills needed to be able to treat and/or seek to correct common patterns of dysfunction and suitable pre-diagnosed injuries.

This course will enable learners to work as a qualified sports massage therapist either in a clinical setting or as an individual on a self employed basis, dealing with clients with pathology of injury and dysfunction across important areas of the
body, including:
• the spine
• the pelvis and hip
• the shoulder
• the knee
• the ankle and foot
• the elbow, wrist and hand

It is a mixture of home study, classroom theory and practical sessions which will develop your skills and knowledge, the course takes approximately 3 months, you will visit our centre once each week (subject to change based on availability), usually on a Saturday/Sunday which then anables you to have mid-week in which to develop and practice the skills just learn't through applying them with your own clients.

Whilst on the course you will be working with peer's or real clients (subject to availability) supplied by the centre who are currently under treatment so you, the learner get to feel the kinds of issues which you will experience for yourself once qualified and be able to deal with these issues, giving you an unriveled education by any other provider.

It is delivered with a maximum of 4 students so the learners experience whilst at our centre is focused on quality delivery enabling the learner to develop to their full potential.

Additional benefit of choosing this course is that we also deliver aspects of Rehabilitation through Flexibility/Mobility, Strength, Proprioception which are all Level 5 elements to enhance your skills.

Cost - £875

All materials, including manuals, clients for practicals will be supplied by the centre.

Additional materials required will be a massage bed and some oils for home practice, and access to power-point 97-2003 as a minimum for home learning.

Entry Requirements

This learner must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy or equivalent. There is an element of communication involved (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 3. Performing sports massage is a physical activity and learners will need to be fit enough to carry this out.

Qualification structure and credit value

The learner must complete all three mandatory units:

  • Conducting subjective and objective assessment (D/506/7501, credit value = 7)
  • Provide sports massage techniques to prevent and manage injury (H/506/7502, credit value = 9)
  • Treatment modalities to support soft tissue repair (K/506/7503, credit value = 3
