Level 3 Certificate in

Personal Training


 
 

This course will enable learners to work as a qualified Personal Trainer either in a commercial gym facility or as an individual on a self employed basis.

The course is a mixture of home study, classroom theory and practical sessions which will develop your skills and knowledge, the course can be completed within approximately 5 months depending on how commited you are to completing your home study. Most lessons and practicals take place on weekends to make it possible for all individuals who wish to undertake this course to do so whilst not interfering with a working life.

Whilst on the course you will have to work with a real client for a minimum of 12 weeks, you may have to work with your client on a number of occasions each week depending on your clients goals, and availability. This unique training experience for yourself will once qualified, giving you an unriveled education by other providers and set you ready for a working career.

It is delivered with 1 to 4 students so the learners experience whilst at our centre is focused on quality delivery enabling the learner to develop to their full potential.

Cost - £1400 if you already hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor Certificate

Cost £1850 if you don't have a Level 2 Gym Instructor Certificate and want to get this qualification also

All materials, including electronic manuals will be supplied by the centre.

All learners will require access to the internet and power-point 97-2003 as a minimum.

Please note that we do not get government funding and the course is a full cost course

Entry Requirements
 
 

The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential, therefore a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
There is also an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and Learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2 & 3 respectively.

 
 
Qualification structure and credit value
 
 

The learner must achieve all seven mandatory units. The total credit value is 36

The following 3 units have already been achieved at Level 2 (unit 1,2,3) and in order to achieve the full personal training certificate learners must achieve units 4,5,6,7.

  1. Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity (M/600/9015) – this unit is worth 2 credits
  2. Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment (T/600/9016)– this unit is worth 2 credits
  3. Principles of exercise, fitness and health (A/600/9017) – this unit is worth 4 credits
  4. Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health (A/600/9051) – this unit is worth 6 credits
  5. Programming personal training with clients (F/600/9052) – this unit is worth 7 credits
  6. Delivering personal training sessions (J/600/9053) – this unit is worth 9 credits
  7. Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme (L/600/9054) – this unit is worth 6 credits
